“Dengan begitu warga tidak perlu lagi pergi ke sungai untuk buang air besar atau kecil dan cukup ke toilet yang sudah tersedia di belakang rumah masing-masing. Toilet sudah terpasang di seluruh sebanyak 112 rumah bagi 115 KK untuk warga Desa Embaleh,” ujar Kades Embaleh, Kecamatan Ketungau Hulu Bahrun saat dihubungi di Sintang, Minggu.
Ia mengatakan bahwa deklarasi status ODF desa yang dipimpinnya bukan hal mudah, sebab membutuhkan waktu panjang dan komitmen tinggi untuk mewujudkannya. Menurutnya, mengubah kebiasaan sebagian masyarakat tidak buang air besar di sungai atau tempat sembarangan sangat berat ditambah lagi belum tersedia infrastruktur pendukung seperti toilet dan air bersih.
“Deklarasi ODF yang awalnya sangat susah perjalanan kami menuju desa berstatus ODF. Puji Tuhan sejak 2021 kami bedah rumah, dari situ kami mulai optimis ingin berstatus ODF yang sudah kami mimpikan sejak 2019 dan sekarang terwujud,” kata Baharun.
Oleh karena itu, dia berterima kasih kepada DPRD Kabupaten Sintang terutama kepada Wakil Ketua DPRD Heri Jamri yang mendorong agar Desa Embaleh supaya memperoleh bantuan infrastruktur perbaikan fisik rumah, air bersih, dan jalan Desa Embaleh-Sungai Areh melalui anggaran APBD Sintang.
“Saya juga berterima kasih kepada warga saya sendiri yang ambil batu di sungai berbondong-bondong gotong royong untuk bangun WC permanen. Terima kasih juga kepada PT. Kiara Sawit Abadi (KSA) yang membangun dan memperbaiki jalan (akses desa), lapangan bola, dan jalan sekolah SMP,” tutur Baharun.
Sementara itu, Camat Ketungau Hulu Randi Hanum mengatakan Desa Embaleh adalah desa kedua di Ketungau Hulu yang kini berstatus desa ODF sehingga Pemerintah Kabupaten (Pemkab) Sintang khususnya Dinas Kesehatan (Dinkes) terus mendorong desa lain juga bisa berstatus ODF.
“Ini sangat menggembirakan kita semua, tolong warga Embaleh menjaga air bersih di sini dari hutan hingga air menuju ke rumah. Terimakasih juga kepada Dinkes yang secara teknis sudah membimbing Desa Embaleh,” kata Hanum.
Menurutnya, tidak mudah bagi desa-desa di Ketungau Hulu termasuk Desa Embaleh yang mampu mendorong warganya sadar perilaku tidak buang air besar sembarang.
“Tetapi dengan berbagai upaya perangkat desa dan komitmen warga hingga deklarasi status ODF suatu prestasi besar bagi Embaleh,” kata dia.
