Wto Sport – Chris Weidman sukses mengalahkan Bruno Silva pada pertandingan yang digelar di Boardwalk Hall, New Jersey, AS, Minggu (31/3/2024) pagi waktu Indonesia.

Kemenangan TKO pada ronde ketiga diraih oleh petarung yang sukses memutus dominasi legenda UFC, Anderson Silva.

Namun, hasil pertandingan diubah setelah melihat kontroversi yang terjadi pada ronde ketiga.

UFC tetap memberikan kemenangan untuk Chris Weidman hanya saja dengan keputusan angka mutlak dan alih-alih TKO.

Pertandingan dimulai dengan tempo yang cukup lambat meski Weidman cukup mendominasi.

Pukulan-pukulan jab dari mantan juara itu mendarat ke wajah Bruno Silva.

Namun duel mulai membosankan dalam tiga menit terakhir ronde ketika Weidman dan Silva hanya dalam posisi yang sama dalam situasi clinch di pagar oktagon.

Silva hanya membelakangi Weidman sambil tangannya memegang kanvas untuk mengamankan dirinya dari tendangan lutut ke kepala.

Memasuki ronde kedua, duel mulai berlangsung alot saat Silva mulai memberikan perlawanan dalam adu pukulan.

Weidman mulai mengalami luka lebam di bagian bawah mata kirinya dan mengeluarkan darah.

Duel berlanjut ke ronde ketiga, pertandingan sempat dihentikan sementara karena insiden colok mata.

Pertandingan berlanjut, Weidman terus tampil lebih agresif dengan terus melancarkan serangan lewat pukulan.

Hingga situasi kemenangan Weidman terjadi dengan cukup kontroversial.

Pasalnya terlihat jelas bahwa ada lebih dulu dua kali colokan mata ke Silva sebelum Weidman menjatuhkannya dengan satu pukulan hook kiri.

Silva yang terjatuh sambil memegangi matanya langsung disusul pukulan dari Weidman yang berada dalam posisi dominan.

Wasit mengentikan laga dan memberikan kemenangan TKO kepadanya walau kemudian dianulir menjadi kemenangan melalui keputusan angka mutlak.

Weidman akhirnya kembali memetik kemenangan usai comeback-nya pada tahun lalu berakhir dengan kekalahan dari Brad Tavarez.

Weidman sebelumnya mengalami cedera patah kaki yang mengerikan saat melawan Uriah Hall pada UFC 261, 24 April 2021.

Dia mengalami patah kaki usai melepaskan leg kick saat ronde kesatu baru berjalan 17 detik.
