Wto Sport – Derrick Lewis berhasil mengatasi perlawanan jagoan anyar top 15 kelas berat UFC, Rodrigo Nascimento.
Pertandingan digelar di Enterprise Center, St.Louis, Amerika Serikat, Minggu (12/5/2024) pagi waktu Indonesia.
Hasilnya Lewis mencetak kemenangan KO di ronde ketiga atas petarung asal Brasil itu.
Lewis dan Nascimento langsung beradu di tengah untuk segera melakukan perkelahian.
Lewis yang diunggulkan pada laga ini tampil agresif lebih dulu melepaskan satu head kick tetapi belum berbahaya.
Meski begitu, Nascimento mampu mengimbangi pertarungan agresif yang ditunjukkan Lewis.
Petarung asal Brasil itu bahkan sempat mendapatkan posisi ideal ketika memukuli Lewis melalui ground and pound.
Memasuki ronde kedua, duel masih berlangsung berimbang dalam adu pukul dan permainan di bawah.
Namun di awal ronde ketiga, Lewis tiba-tiba kembali melancarkan pukulan keras dengan tangan kanan yang sebelumnya dipancing hook kiri.
Satu hantaman Lewis yang mendarat telak di kepala Nascimento langsung membuat lawannya tamat.
Nascimento ambruk dan tak bisa bangun lagi usai Lewis sempat menyusul serangan melalui ground and pound.
Hasil ini membuat Lewis melanjutkan rekor fantatisnya dengan catatan 15 kemenangan finis di UFC.
Duel seru lainnya juga tersaji pada laga co-main event dengan mempertemukan petarung peringkat 11 kelas welter, Joaquin Buckley melawan prospek berbahaya asal Uzbekistan, Nursulton Ruziboev.
Ruziboev yang sudah mencatatkan dua kemenangan finis di panggung UFC disebut-sebut akan menjadi ancaman baru di kelas welter.
Namun, Ruziboev harus menghadapi situasi rumit saat dirinya kewalahan di depan Buckley selama tiga ronde pertarungan.
Ruziboev bahkan beberapa kali mendapatkan bantingan hingga dipukuli dalam posisi ground and pound sampai pelipis mata sebelah kanannya berdarah.
Walhasil Buckley menang telak dengan skor (30-27, 30-26, 29-27).
