Wto Sport – Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI) denganKementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan (KLHK) menandatangani nota kesepahaman tentang sinergiprogram kegiatan di bidang lingkungan hidup dan kehutanan dengan layanan kepalangmerahan pada Jumat.
“Nota kesepahaman ini menjadi acuan bagi PMI dan KLHK untuk saling berkolaborasi dan memanfaatkan potensi serta sumber daya untuk pemberdayaan masyarakat dan kolaborasi multi pihak dalam layanan kepalangmerahan di bidang lingkungan hidup dan kehutanan termasuk ketahanan iklim di masyarakat,” kata Ketua Umum PMI Jusuf Kalla usai kegiatan itu di di Jakarta, Jumat.
Nota kesepahaman ditandatangani Menteri LHKSiti Nurbaya dan Ketua Umum PMI Jusuf Kallaterkait dengan sinergi kegiatan kepalangmerahan di bidang lingkungan hidup dan kehutanan itu selama lima tahun ke depan.
Nota kesepahaman tersebut, antara lain mencakup kegiatan pengembangan kapasitas, layanan bencana dan ketahanan iklim, praktik aksi cerdas iklim, pertukaran data dan informasi, serta kegiatan lain yang disepakati oleh kedua belah pihak.
Aspek-aspek kegiatan yang dilakukan di antaranya terkait dengan rehabilitasi hutan, konservasi sumber daya alam, pengelolaan daerah aliran sungai (DAS), serta pengendalian pencemaran dan kerusakan lingkungan.
“Sejauh ini relawan PMI terlibat dalam kegiatan penanaman pohon untuk penghijauan dan antisipasi perubahan iklim, membantu memadamkan kebakaran lahan dan hutan serta kampanye penyadaran, kemudian menguatkan kapasitas masyarakat yang tinggal di DAS,” katanya.
JK mengatakan kerja sama dengan KLHK tentunya semakin menguatkan layanan dan kegiatan PMI dalam mendukung pemerintah.
Dia mengharapkan sinergi seperti ini dapat memberikan kontribusi nyata untuk mempersiapkan masyarakat, khususnya kelompok rentan, dalam mengantisipasi krisis kemanusiaan akibat perubahan iklim melalui kegiatan-kegiatan adaptasi iklim.
