Wto Sport – Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM), Kalimantan Selatan, mengirimkan tiga mahasiswa untuk mengajar anak-anak Tenaga Kerja Indonesia (TKI) yang bermukim di daerah terpencil di Malaysia dan selama ini belum mendapatkan pendidikan layak.
“Mahasiswa kami mengajar di sanggar belajar atau semacam kejar paket di Indonesia, tempatnya daerah perbatasan Malaysia-Indonesia di wilayah Semenanjung Malaysia yakni Selangor, Kedah, dan Kelantan,” kata Wakil Rektor I Bidang Akademik ULM Iwan Aflanie di Banjarmasin, Senin.
Adapun tiga mahasiswa ULM terpilih mengikuti program proyek kemanusiaan itu adalah Muhammad Sawaluddin Wahid dan Stacy Gracesia Erna Jonas dari Program Studi Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar (PGSD) Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (FKIP) serta Muhammad Fajar Maulanadari Prodi Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan FKIP.
Iwan yang telah melakukan monitoring dan evaluasi (monev) ke Malaysia bertemu tiga mahasiswa itu dan mengaku bangga atas apa yang telah dilaksanakan.
“Mahasiswa yang ikut program ini benar-benar memiliki jiwa sosial tinggi karena mereka harus mengajar di negeri orang yang merupakan tempat terpencil dan minim fasilitas,” ucapnya.
Dia pun menyampaikan terima kasih kepada INTI International University and Colleges Malaysia selaku mitra kerja sama Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Proyek Kemanusiaan Majelis Rektor Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (MRPTN), dimana ULM terlibat didalamnya.
Sementara Wakil Dekan Bidang Akademik FKIP ULM Deasy Arisanty mengungkapkan daerah mahasiswa ditempatkan memang darurat literasi. Menurutnya,banyak anak yang belum bisa baca tulis. Bahkan ada anak umur 16 tahun masih di Sekolah Dasar (SD) dan belum lancar baca tulis.
“Anak-anak juga bekerja membantu orang tua di kebun sawit, sehingga waktu belajar mereka terbatas. Kebutuhan pengajar di sana memang mendesak,” katanya.
Dia pun memastikan FKIP ULM akan melanjutkan program ini karena selain memang adanya kebutuhan, juga karena sejalan dengan nilai-nilai FKIP sebagai kampus pendidik.
“Pengiriman selanjutnya mahasiswa direncanakan pada Februari 2024 mendatang,” ujarnya.
